Responsible for driving security of supply. Must be able to work with contract manufacturers and suppliers during the escalation process to ensure minimal impact to the supply chain.
Responsible for defining/implementing agility improvement initiatives which may include VMI programs enabling shorter lead-times, ability to responds to un-forecasted demand while improving inventory turns.
Monitor capacity readiness with suppliers for new products and sustaining products to ensure continued success to Time to Market expectations as well as to revenue/customer commitments are achieved
EOL (end of life) mitigation and coordination with Business Units to ensure minimum cost and business interruption to Ciena.
Responsible for the negotiation of best in class total cost which includes product cost, agility, and quality for the respective portfolio on a minimum annual basis (as well as on an “as needed” basis). Key objective is to achieve corporate level cost reduction targets as well as product or margin level cost targets.
Track market trends and conditions to ensure capitalization on improving trends as well as communicating where conditions may pose deterioration to the costs of the business unit and take appropriate measure if required.
Identification of more creative methods to save cost, through re-design, supplier transfers, or other supply chain adjustments to improve overall total cost.
Candidate must foster strong working relationships with suppliers to maintain best in class support and supply to Ciena.

● Requirements:
Engineering and/or Business Degree
Minimum 7-10 years experience in Supply Chain Management, Operations Engineering, or Materials Management
Ability to influence and foster strong relationships both internally and externally
Confidently works well under pressure with strong time management disciplines
Excellent Communication (both oral and written) skills in English
